Local students achieve honors and recognition at their colleges

The following colleges announced the achievement of local residents.

Danielle O'Brien of Brewster, NY, a senior Mathematics major at York College of Pennsylvania, has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2017 semester.

SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran congratulates Dominic V. Triano of Patterson, NY, for earning highest honors during the fall 2017 semester. Triano is a SUNY Canton Information Technology major.

Elizabeth Kim of Brewster, NY was recently named to the President's List at The State University of New York at Potsdam. Kim, whose major is Music, was among 882 SUNY Potsdam students who were honored for academic excellence in the Fall 2017 semester.

Coleen De Lanoy of Brewster has been named to Southern New Hampshire University's fall 2017 Dean's List. Eligibility for the Dean's List requires that a student accumulate an academic grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.699 and earn 12 credits for the semester.

John L. Catanzaro of Carmel completed a Bachelor of Science degree in wellness management in fall 2017 at SUNY Oswego and was recognized at the college's Commencement in December.

Bailey Foard of Carmel, NY, a theatre arts major and Taylor Mitchell Simon of Brewster, NY, a finance major have made the Fall Semester 2017 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University. To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

Edward Hajkowski of Patterson, NY, Nicole Palombo of Brewster, NY, Grace Quinn of Brewster, NY and Melissa Rodriguez of Brewster, NY have been named to the Spring 2017 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Cassandra Wolff of Brewster, NY  has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2017 semester at the University of Vermont. Wolff is majoring in GRS - Asia in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Jennifer Ghelarducci of Brewster, NY, Megan Honey of Brewster, NY, Ryan Hecht of Brewster, NY, Kathryn Tassi of Brewster, NY, Sarah Peterman of Brewster, NY, Amanda Garre of Carmel, NY and Kyra Tighe of Patterson, NY have qualified for the fall 2017 Dean's List at the University of Rhode Island. To be included on the Dean's List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average.

Danielle DiGiacomo of Carmel, NY is named to Siena College President's List for Fall 2017 Semester. The President's List requires a 3.9 grade point average or higher.

The following local residents were among 1,608 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2017 semester:

  •       Megan Hendrie of Brewster, NY, is a member of the class of 2019 majoring in biomedical engineering.
  •       Brandon Miletti of Carmel, NY, is a member of the class of 2020 majoring in robotics engineering, and electrical and computer engineering.
  •       Anna Mederer of Carmel, NY, is a member of the class of 2021 majoring in robotics engineering.
  •       Laurel Higham of Patterson, NY, is a member of the class of 2019 majoring in robotics engineering.

The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
