Conservationist Discusses How to Live with Black Bears

The Bear Reality

On April 2 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Pawling Gardiner Theater, Route 22, Pawling, NY, FrOGS (Friends of the Great Swamp) has invited Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist and bear enthusiast Felicia Ortner, to tell us how to live with black bears. She has studied bears for over 30 years and logged over 280 educational outreach hours throughout NY and New England, and will offer insight into the natural world of bears.

More of us are seeing black bears in our yards or visiting our bird feeders, but getting along with them calls for some knowledge and common sense. She will discuss their life styles, physiology, behavior and natural history as well as practical strategies for the coexistence of humans and bears. She hopes to help people better understand and respect, but not fear, black bears. The presentation is free and open to the public.
