The Hudson Valley Fair returns for three consecutive weekends to Dutchess Stadium, located at 1500 New York 9D in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., now through Sunday, May 21.
New to the fair this year for only the opening weekend is The Marvelous Mutts, a thrilling canine sport entertainment show that features some of the world’s finest, furriest athletes that are all adopted from shelters and rescues. The canine spectacular has appeared on nationally televised programs including Animal Planet, The Late Show with David Letterman, ESPN’s Great Outdoor Games, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Fox & Friends, Univision’s Sabado Gigante, The Purina Incredible Dog Challenge and many other local media outlets.
The Marvelous Mutts shows combine the most exciting dog sports including Frisbee, agility racing and dock diving as well as crowd participation and a meet and greet with the show’s stars.
Also new to the Hudson Valley Fair this year is “Close Encounters of the Exotic Kind,” a unique lion and tiger show. With nearly 40 years of experience, world-renowned showman and exotic animal trainer Vincent Von Duke will be onsite for the second and third week of the fair, providing fairgoers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these beautiful creatures perform together live.
Returning to the Hudson Valley Fair is crowd favorite the Banana Derby, a race where monkeys dressed in jockey outfits race trained dogs around a track. Fairgoers may even meet the monkeys up close and personal after the races, which are held several times each day.
Award-wining illusionist Lance Gifford will also return to Hudson Valley and continue to amaze all with his fast-paced and highly entertaining magical illusion show, performing some of the world’s most amazing illusions throughout the U.S. and Canada. Some of the “family members” in his troupe include doves, rabbits, standard poodles, a Macaw parrot and a Boston terrier.
Gifford will perform live at the fair several times each day.
The fair also features a large petting zoo where attendees may pet and feed dozens of animals from all around the world. This attraction is free and open during all fair hours.
No fair would be complete without delicious fair food. The Hudson Valley Fair has all fair favorites like funnel cakes, zeppoles, Italian sausage and peppers, chicken on a stick, candy apples, popcorn, pizza, BBQ and more.
Powers and Thomas Midway Entertainment will be providing a spectacular array of amusement rides ranging from high-speed riders for thrill seekers to exciting rides for the little ones. A huge array of rides, games and attractions will be onsite including the Sky Diver, the Hurricane and the High Flyer. There is something for each member of the family at the Hudson Valley Fair.
A free fireworks show by Legion Fireworks will take place every Saturday night.
Fair hours are 5 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and 1 to 11 p.m. on the weekends.

Pay-One-Price unlimited rides wristbands are also available at an advance discounted price of $20 each on the website. Family Four Packs, which include four admission tickets and four Pay-One-Price unlimited rides wristbands are also available on the website at an advance reduced price. Individual ride tickets and Pay-One-Price wristbands may also be purchased at the event. All live entertainment and shows are free with fair admission.
