Byrne Joins Hundreds of CHIPS Supporters at Rally for Funding

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,Ref-Mahopac) earlier this month joined members of the Legislature, highway superintendents and road workers to rally at the Capitol for increased Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding in this year’s budget. The group is asking for an increase of $150 million and an annual $50 million increase to support road and bridge repairs.

“Bridge and highway projects are key components of the state’s economic success. They create jobs, allow for the transport of goods to our markets and promote travel throughout the state for families. It’s important that we continue to and increase funding for future projects, maintenance and upkeep,” said Byrne.

Assemblyman Byrne represents the 94th Assembly District, made up of the towns of Carmel, Patterson, Putnam Valley, Somers, Southeast and Yorktown. He is the ranking member on the Assembly’s Aging Committee and also sits on the health, labor, banks and governmental operations committees.
