Mom and a First-time Candidate Melinda Montanaro Hits Campaign Milestone: 1,000 doors knocked

Southeast Town Council Candidate Melinda Montanaro spends her days getting the kids ready for school, changing their diapers, helping with their homework, then planning which streets she is going door-to-door in the evening when her husband, Gabriel, returns to take over parenting. With only six weeks left, and 1,000 doors knocked as of this week, Melinda’s campaign is built on meeting residents where they live and listening to their concerns.

“I believe if you run for office and want to represent your community you have an obligation to work your hardest to connect and listen to people,” said Montanaro. “It’s been hectic but I hope the dedication and hard work I bring to my campaign indicates to residents the dedication and hard work I will bring to being Councilwoman.”

Melinda is running for offi ce, she said, in part because she is a mom and she wants a town government that works hard to ensure a bright future for all our children. Strong development that brings jobs, arts, and culture to the town while maintaining its character, supporting the town’s natural resources, and having leaders who can problem solve and get things done, are some of the priorities about which, she says, residents speak with her.

“My husband and I fell in love with Southeast and knew this was where we wanted to raise our family. My running mate, John Lord, and I are ready to work hard to ensure it’s strong and successful future.”

Melinda is a former marketing executive and small business owner, a community volunteer, and currently a stay-at-home mother. Both Melinda and John are running on the Democratic line and the independent line, We the People.

The election is November 7th.
