Carmel Residents Encouraged to Vote on Bond Referendum Monday December 11

On Monday, December 11, 2017, Carmel Central School District residents will have an opportunity to play an active role in our district’s future by voting on the proposed capital project bond referendum. While the district traditionally holds votes on Tuesdays, this vote is on Monday due to the Jewish Holiday Hanukkah, which begins on Tuesday, December 12.

For nearly ten months, the Capital Project Advisory Committee, comprised of members of school  administration, faculty and staff, community residents and parents worked together with school design professionals to develop a capital project to support a high-quality, 21st-century education that is fiscally responsible and globally competitive now and in the future. A strong school district that provides a proper environment for teaching and learning is the backbone of a thriving community. On that basis alone the proposed capital projects would benefit all residents of the Carmel Central School District.

We urge all residents to vote on December 11, 2017.

The referendum has been designed to provide funding so that the District can make capital improvements and repairs to its schools and facilities in order to support the health, safety and education of our children.  The projects included in the referendum were carefully considered to meet the needs of the district today and in the future.  The  referendum will include two propositions.

Proposition A

Projects related to improvements, renovations and re-imagining how we use our space at all campuses.
  • Supports all Campuses
  • Sustains critical infrastructure of our buildings
  • Meets needs of district and community for field space
  • Includes enhanced capabilities to support STEM/STEAM programs at all levels
  • Balancing projects affecting all aspects of a child’s learning
