Please be aware that the following message was sent to local tax receivers, county treasurers, and municipal clerks moments ago.

As you know, due to recent changes in federal tax law, many New York State homeowners have been urgently seeking to pay their 2018 property taxes before the end of 2017. Governor Cuomo signed an Executive Order today that makes it possible for them to do so.

The Executive Order authorizes county legislative bodies, and town supervisors in Westchester County, to issue their warrants for the collection of taxes and to deliver them to the collecting officers immediately upon the adoption of the budget, or upon the issuance of the Executive Order (which happened today), whichever is later, but no later than December 28 in any event. This will ensure that taxes may be paid on December 29, if not earlier. The Executive Order also directs collecting officers to accept partial payments of those payments, since there may be cases where the exact amount due is not yet known.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter.
