Red Rooster Drive In Burglarized


The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) is investigating a burglary at the Red Rooster drive-in restaurant located on Route 22 in Brewster that occurred early Sunday morning.


The State Police Public Information Officer Trooper McMorris stated that sometime early Sunday morning an unknown person or persons forced open a rear door to the establishment, entered it and broke open the registers. A safe on the premise was also taken and investigators located it in the woods directly the building.

The burglary was discovered Sunday morning at about 9 a.m. when employees arrived to prepare to open for the day.

An undetermined amount of cash was taken from the business in the incident.

The drive in is a popular tourist stop and local eatery that has operated at its present location since the mid 1960's. They also operate a small mini-golf course at the location.

The New York State Police BCI is continuing the investigation at this time. Anyone with any information is asked to call the New York State Police Brewster Barracks at 845 - 279 - 6161
