Brewster Firefighters Aided in Accident on 22

Shortly before 8 am Tuesday Brewster firefighters were dispatched to a serious head-on accident with extrication on Route 22 just south of the village. Brewster Chief Phil McMurray requested Croton Falls to assist at the scene and to set up a landing zone for a LifeNet helicopter. Brewster and Croton Falls firefighters worked together to extricate the driver of a pick-up truck that had collided with a Verizon bucket truck. The Verzion truck rolled off Rt. 22 and down an embankment coming to rest against a large tree. The two occupants of the truck were able to self extricate form the vehicle and transported to Danbury Hospital by Patterson FD ambulance. The driver of the pick-up truck was transported by LifeNet helicopter to the Westchester Medical Center. Route 22 was closed for several hours between Railroad Ave and Deans Corner Road while Putnam County Sheriffs conducted an accident investigation.
