Victims of Crash on Route 22 in Brewster Identified

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that the victims of yesterday’s crash involving a pickup truck and a Verizon utility truck on New York Route 22 near Brewster have been identified.

The man driving the pickup truck was Mr. David H. Mossman, aged 23, of Dingle Ridge Road in Southeast. Mr. Mossman was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and admitted with multiple injuries described as serious. The Sheriff’s Office has no further information on his condition at this time.

The driver of the Verizon truck was Mr. Joseph J. Politi, aged 49, of Orchard Drive in Poughquag. The passenger in that truck was Mr. Giuseppe Assenza, aged 48, of Glenwood Road in Poughkeepsie. Messrs. Politi and Assenza were taken by ambulance to Danbury Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. No further information is available on whether they were admitted or their conditions.

Route 22 was closed to traffic for about six hours as the wrecked vehicles were cleared and investigators examined the scene to determine the cause of the crash. The investigation is continuing.
