Man Charged With Driving While Intoxicated on Route 6 in Southeast

On January 29, 2017 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Keith Blessing stopped a motorist who he had observed to be driving erratically on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Luis G. Sanchez, 28, of 17 Clark Street, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy further determined that Mr. Sanchez had been previously convicted for driving while intoxicated within the least ten years. The deputy arrested Mr. Sanchez and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a felony, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the felony charge, the defendant could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.00.
