Dear Junior and Senior Families:

Brewster High School in conjunction with the Communities that Care Coalition will be hosting a mandatory meeting for parents and students who are planning to attend the Junior or Senior prom. In order for students to be eligible to purchase prom tickets, a parent or guardian and the student must attend one of the brief scheduled presentations.

Brewster High School will present The Prom Project on the following dates and times:

  • March 17 at 7:50 a.m. in the PAC at Brewster High School
  • March 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at H.H. Wells Middle School
  • March 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at H.H. Wells Middle School

The Prom Project is a panel presentation of local experts that outlines the risks and responsibilities of the prom, including host liability laws, limo companies, underage drinking concerns, after parties, and other risks associated with the prom season. Students attending Junior Prom this year will be taking a coach bus. Please understand that there will be no exceptions made regarding this expectation.

The panel will consist of community members representing the legal system, the therapeutic community, The Putnam Youth Bureau and The National Council on Alcoholism and other Drug Dependencies. We anticipate the following panelists; Judge James F. Reitz (Putnam County Court), Judge Tom Jacobellis (Carmel Court), Naura Slivinsky (Arms Acres), Joseph DeMarzo (Putnam Youth Bureau), and Kristin Cafiero (NCADD/Putnam).
Brewster High School is joining other school districts with the hope of increasing awareness by using the combined resources of home, community, and school to keep our young people safe. Please contact our Assistant Principal, Kieran Stack, with any questions, comments or concerns.

Sincerely,

Nichole Horler, Principal
