Connecticut man charged with gun and drug possession following welfare check

 On Saturday, November 18th, 2017, at approximately 12:45 a.m., the New York State Police at Brewster arrested Peter T. Shirvell, age 22, of Ridgefield, Connecticut. At that time, on State Route 6 at the intersection with Starr Ridge Road in the Town of Southeast, County of Putnam, Shirvell was found unconscious behind the wheel of his vehicle near the entrance of the Shell gas station. Shirvell was found to be intoxicated, and when Troopers attempted to place him into custody, he physically resisted. Shirvell was also found to be in possession of an illegal loaded firearm and a small amount of cocaine.

Shirvell was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (Class “C” Felony), Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” Felony), Driving While Intoxicated (an “Unclassified” Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (all Class “A” Misdemeanors), and Disorderly Conduct (a Violation.)

Shirvell was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Courthouse and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. He was directed to reappear in Town Court on December 5th, 2017, at 2:30 p.m.
