Two adults and two children injured in a two-vehicle collision in Carmel

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that four persons, including two children, were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Carmel this morning (Friday).  The crash occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on Seminary Hill Road near the intersection with Mechanic Street.

According to preliminary reports, a woman from Carmel was driving a car in a southbound direction on Seminary Hill Road, with her three children riding as passengers, when she reportedly lost control of her car on a patch of ice.  Her vehicle slid sideways and crossed into the northbound lane of the road, colliding with a northbound car driven by a woman from Carmel.

Two of the children were injured in the crash.  A six-year-old boy suffered an apparent broken collarbone and his 12-year-old sister had a possible leg injury.  Both drivers complained of neck and back pain.  The third child, a 14-year-old boy, was not injured.

The mother and her two injured children were taken by ambulance to Danbury Hospital.  The other driver was transported to Putnam Hospital Center.  The impact caused heavy damage to both vehicles and they were towed from the scene.

Assisting sheriff’s deputies at the scene was the Carmel Police Department, the Carmel and Brewster Fire Departments, the Carmel and Brewster Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and two EmStar paramedic units.
