Who says politics is a dry subject? Not Capitol Steps – the comedy troupe who used to work for the very Washingtonites they now spoof! With more than 30 hilarious albums and lots of material, Capitol Steps will take the edge off the elections with their uproarious show on Thursday, November 6, at 8 p.m., at The Ridgefield Playhouse. The professional actors’ twist on demock-racy includes parodies and skits such as “Obama Mia”, “Mid Term Madness”, “I’ll Be Watching You”, “I’m So Indicted”, and more from their latest CD Howto Succeed in Congress Without Really Lying.
Capitol Steps has recorded more than 34 albums and have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials.
Hot political topics, scandals, gaffes and debatable issues – nothing is off limits in the Capitol Steps repertoire. Through the past administrations – the Reagan years, the George H.W. Bush years, the Clinton years, the George W. Bush years and the up-to-the-minute Obama years - Capitol Steps has (arguably) amassed tomes of material for their comedy routines, which are set to the melodies of popular songs. This comedy troupe offers relief from the season’s debate and commentary.
