Brookfield Historical Society Presents America’s Participation in The Great War

Location: Brookfield Museum 165 Whisconier Road (Junction of Routes 25 and 133) in Brookfield Center

Mr. Jack Scully, a former Navy veteran from Brookfield, stands next to a picture of his great uncle John Powell Scully, a WWI doughboy, who served in the 29th Infantry Division, as part of the American Expeditionary force during World War I. Scully, a Brookfield resident and former Navy veteran, will deliver a multi-media presentation on Monday evening May 4, 2014 at 7:30 PM, discussing America’s participation in the war and the major military campaigns U.S. Forces engaged in.

In addition he will share information he has gathered over the past 35 years in creating a profile on his father’s older brother John, relating to his WWI military service. He will also discuss the many resources he used in his research.. Scully has taught several genealogy courses in Danbury and Brookfield and recently gave a talk on “Genealogy & Technology” at the Danbury Area Computer Society.

The presentation sponsored by the Brookfield Historical Society will take place at the Brookfield Museum, located at 165 Whisconier Road (Junction of Routes 25 and 133) in Brookfield Center. Mr. Scully will wear a WWI uniform made by his wife Barbara similar to that worn by his uncle Jack. Admission is free. Following the presentation, complimentary refreshments will be available.
