Brookfield Historical Society Hosts 5th Annual Traditional Christmas Open House Weekend

Santa helps Emily Canney of Brookfield hold a vintage Howdy Doody doll during last year’s Traditional Christmas Open House weekend at the Brookfield Historical Society Museum. The event will take place this year on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, 2015 from Noon to 4 P.M.

Santa once again will be stopping by with his helpers bearing complimentary treats for the kids. In addition, the sight of operating model trains in a winter display, will entertain children of all ages, while the sound of antique music boxes will fill the air with well-known Christmas songs. Many classic decorations, tree ornaments and other items reminiscent of Christmas’s gone by will be on display, as well as boy and girl mannequins originally from Macy’s New York store front, displayed in the 1940s.

Also, antique toys and dolls dating back from the turn of the 20th century to the 1950s, will bring back happy memories of holidays past. It’s all free and attendees will be treated to complimentary homemade Christmas cookies and assorted pastries, as well as hot chocolate and cider. A scavenger hunt for the children always adds to the fun. In addition some hand crafted items will be on sale from our gift shop, perfect for holiday gifts.

The Brookfield Museum is located at 165 Whisconier Road (junction of Routes 25 and 133) in Brookfield Center. This event is a must see visit for adults and children alike that is guaranteed to get everyone into the spirit of the season.
