Brookfield Library to host "DNA Testing and Family History Research"
on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with presenter Heather Graham

Have you ever wondered where you came from or whether your DNA would prove that your family came from a certain country?  In this program, we will explore  how DNA testing can help you with your family history research.

This will be done by reviewing words that are associated with DNA testing, why you might take a DNA test, the different types of tests available, which companies you can get a DNA test from, and what is involved with taking a DNA test.  Using real results from Ancestry.com, you will also get to see what the results look like and what information you can get from those results.

Heather Young teaches full time in an inner city public school district and has worked part time at the Howard Whittemore Library for over 20 years.  She has been working on her personal family history since 1998, which has included traveling overseas to do research. She has taken courses through Ancestry and Family Tree Magazine, has been helping friends and co-workers with genealogy research for years, and has also been presenting genealogy programs at her library on a variety of family research topics.
