Longtime Brookfield Resident, Norman Heroux, Passes at 84

Norman Marcel Heroux, 84, of Brookfield, husband of the late Savina (Manzione) died peacefully on Thursday, March 5th, at Danbury Hospital.  He was born on December 9, 1930 in Putnam, CT. He attended grammar school in Watertown, Sacred Heart High School, Waterbury, and Assumption College. He was the son of the late Origene and Mary Ange (LeMey) Heroux. 

Norman was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the United States Navy.  He was a long standing member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He served as post and district commander for the American Legion.

He retired from Westinghouse Corp. as a consultant after serving as a Field Service manager for Unimation Inc. in Danbury for many years.  While at Unimation he invented the first successful industrial robot.

In his younger years, he was the Town Assessor of Watertown, CT.  Norman was also a semi-professional roller skater and performed in the Follies in New Haven.  He enjoyed teaching at W.F. Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury. 

His hobbies included playing cards and he was a NASCAR enthusiast.  Norman was happiest spending time with his loved ones and traveling the world with his late wife, Savina.

He will be sadly missed by his three children; Kimberly Heroux of Waterbury, James Heroux of VT, Douglas Heroux and his wife Kathy of Enfield; his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  His also survived by his two brothers Richard Heroux and his wife Marie of Franklinton, NC, Gene Paul Heroux of Oakville; his sister Dianne Carrier and her husband Charles of Calais, ME; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at 6:30 pm at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family with full military honors.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 11th between the hours of 4:00 - 7:00pm.
