Brookfield Resident, Immacolata Anna Paparo, Passes at 94

Mrs. Immacolata Anna Paparo, age 94 of Brookfield, formerly of Danbury, passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2015 in the loving care of her family. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Salvatore Paparo for 55 years.

Immacolata was born on December 8, 1920 in Ursini di Caulonia, Italy, daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Panetta. She immigrated to the United States in 1956 and first settled in West Virginia before moving to Danbury where she lived for most of her life. Immacolata often returned to visit family and friends in Ursini di Caulonia, where she loved to sit on her balcony overlooking the sea.

Immacolata was a strong, hardworking, and kind woman with a deep sense of family and faith. She will always be remembered for her love of cooking and gardening, to which she dedicated much of her free time. She especially enjoyed holidays and parties and was happiest when surrounded by her large extended family.

Immacolata is survived by five children and their spouses: Vincenzo Paparo and his wife Nancy of Daleville, Va, Cecilia Mazza and her husband Cosimo of Bridgewater, Diletta Chiera and her husband Carmelo of Brookfield with whom she lived, Virginia Aiello and her husband Kenneth of New Milford, Ilario Paparo of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Joyce Paparo of New Milford. She also leaves behind a brother, Giuseppe Panetta of Italy, fourteen grandchildren, their spouses, seven beautiful great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. Immacolata was predeceased by her son Cosimo Paparo of Danbury and six brothers and sisters in Italy.

Immacolata’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Addie, Lizbeth, and the nurses and aides from Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT. Their loving care and support of Immacolata will always be appreciated and remembered.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Danbury on Monday March 30, 2015 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury. Friends may call at Cornell Funeral Home, 247 White St., Danbury on Monday March 30, 2015 from 8:30-9:30 am.
