New President and CEO Joins Ann’s Place

Ann’s Place Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Shannon Cobb will be the new President and CEO, helping to expand the mission of providing comfort, support and resources to people living with cancer and their loved ones.

Cobb, a resident of Danbury for the last 15 years, comes to Ann’s Place from United Way of Westchester and Putnam where she served as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Community Impact. She is a strategic, goal driven communications and program professional with more than 23 years of experience in nonprofit agencies across the country.

"We are delighted to welcome Shannon as our new President and CEO.  She brings a wealth of nonprofit experience, strong leadership skills and a personality that exudes her enthusiasm for our mission,"

said David Nurnberger, Chairman of the board of directors.

Cobb started her career in volunteer management which has been a major influence in every position she has held.  She focuses her work around building diverse volunteer and community involvement and through the years, she led thousands of volunteers to help increase socialization skills for people with disabilities, assist low income seniors live independently at home, advocate for youth in foster care, and enhance the management of nonprofits.

“Ann’s Place has just a handful of paid staff, but we have over one thousand volunteers who are truly the heart of everything that happens here,” said Cobb. “I knew I would feel right at home among so much passion.”

Cobb has also been a weekly volunteer with the Jesse Lee United Methodist Church youth ministries in Ridgefield for the last fifteen years and is an alumni of the Parent Leadership Training Institute in Danbury among other volunteer work in the area.

Over the next year, Cobb will focus on increasing visibility for Ann’s Place, enhancing donor and volunteer engagement, and creating a long term sustainability plan for taking care of the beautiful facilities at 80 Saw Mill Road. The facilities were built almost entirely by volunteers and donated professional services. “It is now time for us to have a clear path forward in sustaining this amazing gift,” said Cobb.
