The Watermark at East Hill Appoints New Executive Director

The Watermark at East Hill is pleased to announce the addition of Kelly Mazza as Executive Director for the continuing care retirement community, located at 611 East Hill Road in Southbury.

Mazza comes to The Watermark with 15 years of experience holding executive-level management positions in the senior living profession. In her new role, Mazza will be responsible for the day-to-day management of The Watermark’s various services and amenities.

“We are excited to welcome Kelly to The Watermark at East Hill and we’re confident her skills and expertise in the continuing care profession will add tremendous value to our community,” said Fred Zarrilli, Managing Director at Watermark Retirement Communities.

Mazza started her career in 2002 as an administrator for Athena Health Care Systems. In 2005, she began the Executive Director in Training program with Benchmark Senior Living, and was promoted to Director of Operations for Benchmark’s Ridgefield Crossings community. Mazza went on to serve as Senior Executive Director of two additional Benchmark communities, The Arbors at Shelburne and The Village at Mariner’s Point.

Before joining The Watermark, she was the Vice President of Operations for Maplewood at Home, a registered homemaker companion agency within the Maplewood Senior Living company. Prior to that, Mazza was Maplewood Senior Living’s Corporate Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development.

“I’m excited to join The Watermark at East Hill, a community that has a great reputation as a place where people thrive,” said Mazza. “The team is comprised of seasoned professionals who are passionate about what they do and the resident population is engaged, active, diverse and interesting. I’m really looking forward to the future at The Watermark.”

Mazza is a graduate of Florida’s Barry University with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. She earned an M.A. in teaching from Sacred Heart University, a Certificate in Long Term Care from the University of Connecticut and an Advanced Certificate of Strategic HR Management from Cornell University. Mazza is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Connecticut and a Certified Dementia Practitioner.

In 2012, she was honored with the first-ever Community Leadership Award as Executive Director of The Year by senior living trade association, Argentum. Mazza is also a veteran of the Army National Guard, having served as a combat medic.
