Joseph Merola, age 54, charged with Possessing Child Pornography, was picked up on 9/5/13 by New Jersey Police on a Connecticut warrant. The warrant was the result of an investigation that began in Feb. 2013 and continued through August. Merola waived extradition on 9/5/13. He was picked up by Brookfield Police detectives on 9/10/13 and returned to Brookfield where he was served with the arrest warrant. Merola was unable to post the $75,000 court-set bond and held overnight for arraignment on 9/11/13.
Correction- After speaking with Sergeant O'Brien today, this was not a Brookfield resident but someone who was renting a storage unit in Brookfield and when it's contents were sold last winter, the evidence was discovered.
