Brookfield Democrats seek candidates for boards and commissions

The Brookfield Democratic Town Committee (BDTC) is considering candidates for several positions up for election in the municipal election in November.

Board and commission seats that will be on the ballot include First Selectman, Selectman, Board of Finance, Board of Education, Planning Commission, Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Board of Assessment Appeals. In addition, the committee is seeking candidates for Town Clerk, a paid town position.

“Why did I get involved in town politics after decades of volunteering for my church, schools, and boy scouts?” said Brookfield Selectman Sue Slater, “For my sons. I want to leave Brookfield a better place for them. I was not happy with the direction Brookfield was going in and I wanted to help.”

There has been a lot of progress made since the last municipal election, she said, and there is still more work to do.

“Being involved in local government is a unique way to make a difference. If you want to be a part of true public service and make a change, local government is the place,” Slater said.
