UJA Federation Greenwich Merges with JCC Greenwich

In 2010 UJA Greenwich launched the Jewish Community Center of Greenwich to expand its local efforts in building a vibrant Jewish community. Now the two organizations, which have co-existed under the same roof for nearly eight years, have opted to merge. The new entity goes by the name UJA-JCC Greenwich.

The boards of both UJA Greenwich and JCC Greenwich unanimously approved the union. The move follows two years of discussions. Pam Ehrenkranz, who served as chief executive of both separate organizations, continues in her leadership role with the new entity. Leah Schechter, the Assistant Director of the JCC, also transfers her title to the consolidated endeavor, as does Tracy Daniels, Women’s Philanthropy and PJ Library Director.

“Our goal is to leverage the best of both entities and take our vision to the next level, building on our achievements as catalysts of Jewish life,” said Ehrenkranz. Schechter agreed, noting that “UJA-JCC Greenwich combines the strengths of its twin engines to yield a powerhouse center advancing Jewish community needs in Greenwich and around the world.”

“The math here is that one is greater than two, that one gift now has double the power” added UJA-JCC Greenwich President Scott Simon.

UJA-JCC will continue its focus on philanthropy, and building Jewish communities in Greenwich, Israel and around the globe, meeting Jewish needs wherever they exist. And of course the high level programming around ideas & arts, film, community service and family experiences will continue with an exciting lineup for 2018. The Winter 2018 Brochure will be hitting homes in early January and available online at ujajcc.org.
