Greenwich Book Swap Needs Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to work at the Book Swap 1 - 2 mornings a month. If you like books and working with people, and love the idea of saving 100,000 books from the trash each year, we would be delighted to have you volunteer.

Greenwich's Recycling Center has a Book Swap and outdoor library of over 4,000 books for Greenwich residents open Friday and Saturday mornings from 7am - noon. The book shed is a hidden gem in Greenwich that typically gets 150 visitors each day. We are looking for volunteers to work 1-2 mornings a month from 8-noon.

It is run by Doug Francefort, a dynamic 87 year old who has been recycling books for over 30 years. Some of our volunteers are members of the Retired Men's Association, but we welcome adult men and women volunteers of all ages.

There is some heavy lifting so we ask that you are able to carry a 30 lb box of books. You will also be asked to sort incoming books into categories such as Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance and Classics.
