Interim North Mianus School Assistant Principal Appointed

Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Salvatore Corda announced the appointment of Ms. Kathleen Brunswick as the Interim Assistant Principal for North Mianus School (NMS), effective immediately. Ms. Brunswick is currently a special education teacher at Glenville School and has been the Site Supervisor/Building Administrator for the Greenwich Public Summer School and Extended Year Program at Hamilton Avenue School for summers 2013 to 2016.

North Mianus School Principal Angela Schmidt, said, “I am very excited to welcome Kat Brunswick to NMS. She brings a wide range of skills to this position, from her experience in teacher evaluation and management to developing and implementing both behavioral and academic plans to meet the needs of all learners. She demonstrates strong communication skills in addressing colleagues, parents and students. Her background in technology and data analysis makes her an ideal fit for our school. We look forward to working together to support the needs of the NMS school community.”

As Interim Assistant Principal, Ms. Brunswick is responsible for assisting the Principal with the administrative operations of the school, including staff evaluations, scheduling, and special education.

A search for the permanent position of NMS Assistant Principal will be conducted at the start of the hiring season in January 2017.

A special education teacher since 2004, Ms. Brunswick began her career as an educator in Cincinnati, OH for the Princeton City School District. From 2005 to 2007, she served as an intervention specialist for the Princeton City schools, before moving to Connecticut. She began teaching for the Greenwich Public Schools (GPS) in 2007 as a special education teacher for Parkway School. In 2011, she moved to Glenville School. Ms. Brunswick has a strong background and experience in meeting the needs of all learners and has also served as a site administrator for the GPS Summer School Program for four years.

Ms. Brunswick received a bachelor of arts degree in communications from the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH in 2003; a masters of education degree in special education from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH in 2005; and a certificate of advanced studies in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT in 2011.
