Greenwich Hospital receives the 2016 Women's Choice Award for Obstetrics

Greenwich Hospital has received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics for the third year in a row. The award goes to the nation’s top 15 percent of hospitals considered the best to have a baby.

“As the region’s destination hospital for maternity care, Greenwich Hospital is committed to providing mothers with the best birthing experience possible,” said Susan Brown, executive vice president of Operations and Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer.

“We offer women from Connecticut and New York a full range of mother-baby care, including state-of-the-art fertility, perinatal and neonatal services,” added Brown. “Our compassionate team of doctors and nurses has the expertise to handle every scenario from uncomplicated deliveries to complex cases.”

In 2015, a record 2,814 births took place at Greenwich Hospital, representing the fourth highest birth numbers in Connecticut. The hospital also has a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for newborns who require specialized care.

The list of more than 400 award winners represents hospitals that offer exceptional obstetric services and rank above the national average for patient safety. Other considerations included having a NICU and low rates of early elective deliveries. The scoring process is the only national list that is evidence-based and focuses on female patient satisfaction from data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys.
