Danbury Secures Historic Funding Allocation in State’s Two-Year Budget

Today, Mayor Roberto L. Alves announces that the State of Connecticut House and Senate have passed a budget that provides Danbury with a historic amount of funding for the second year in a row. This increase in municipal aid is the direct result of continued advocacy and hard work in Hartford.

“I want to thank the House and Senate leadership, and the Governor’s Office who recognize how hard we’re working in Danbury,” Mayor Alves said. “We are significantly upgrading our infrastructure, expanding our public safety departments, and functioning more efficiently, but there is so much more that needs to be done. Since taking office, I have worked closely with our state delegation to make that happen—and once again, we are delivering for our community.”

“This historic funding reflects the leadership of my staff and our team in Hartford,” continued Mayor Alves. “Our state leaders know about our vision for Danbury and receiving the highest municipal allocation for the second year in a row shows they are listening.”

The state budget includes $47.3 million in municipal aid for Danbury over the next two fiscal years. This represents a $23.66 million increase in aid for FY26 and FY27, surpassing that of any other municipality in the State. The City will determine the most effective allocation of these funds once the budget is fully enacted.

The budget passed the House and Senate. Governor Ned Lamont is expected to sign the budget into law.
