The event, which focused on women’s health, featured presentations by members of the healthcare community, including our own Rick Pope, Physician Assistant at Danbury Orthopedics.

“No Bones About It” was the title of the presentation co-presented with Dr. Claudia Johnson-Baxter, an obstetrician/gynecologist with Women’s Healthcare of New Milford.

The 30 minute presentation focused on specific ways in which women can help prevent osteoporosis and maintain healthy bones. Thanks to Dr. Spiegel and Mr. Pope, Danbury Orthopedics is on the cutting edge of preventive strategy of treatment, and prevention of osteoporosis so common in older women and increasingly in men. In addition, they specialize in complicated cases of bone and mineral health in both sexes. Dr. Spiegel and Mr. Pope speak locally, regionally and nationally on the topic of osteoporosis. After the presentation. Mr. Pope reiterated the importance of preventive care, "One in two women over the age of 50 will suffer from a bone fracture during her lifetime.  Can we really prevent fractures with current non-pharmologic strategies in combination with FDA approved treatments?  The importance of taking a proactive approach to avoiding these types of injuries in the first place is key."
