Meatball Mile is this Sunday! Register Now!

 

The Meatball Mile for MSA, a fun family fundraiser planned for Sunday, November 22 to support The Rex Griswold Foundation, a nonprofit organization created in honor of Ridgefield resident Rex Griswold who is battling Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). The fast, flat one-mile race (that anyone can win) will take place at The Danbury Fair Mall.

 "Rex is in the midst of a losing battle against MSA, for which there is no known cure, no magic pill or therapy to stop or slow this deadly disease.  There is also not enough research being done to find a cure, as the disease strikes such a small population," explains Megan Searfoss, event volunteer and owner of Ridgefield Running Company.  

The mission of The Rex Griswold Foundation is to raise awareness and funds for groundbreaking research on Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), with the goal of treating and curing this terrible disease.

The Meatball Mile is a “predictor” race in which you predict your finish time for a chance to be “closest to the pin”, winning a $1000 gift certificate to the Danbury Fair Mall.  No watches, or timing  devices allowed, just run the pace and hope you cross the finish line in time to win. 

The race is sponsored by Mimi’s Meatballs and More, and they are hosting a post-race party inside the mall complete with a dish of meatballs and pasta. 

Each athlete will get an inaugural Meatball Mile, Asics performance tee, coupons and exclusive offers from the mall and chances to win Asics running shoes from Ridgefield Running Company. 

"It’s going to be a wonderful morning of predictions, which is the antithesis of this deadly disease," explains Searfoss.

Registration for the race directly funds the Rex Griswold Foundation, and any additional contribution you make online with your registration directly funds the charity.  Come enjoy the morning, potentially win a race and eat Meatballs with friends!
