Hat City Ball 2017 to benefit The Danbury Museum & Historical Society

The Friends of The Danbury Museum & Historical Society will host their third annual Hat City Ball on Friday, January 27, 2017. The gala kicks off the 75th anniversary year for the organization and celebrates their mission to acquire, preserve, and interpret the history of our city.

As part of the festivities, The Friends of The Danbury Museum & Historical Society will present Honorable Mayor Mark D. Boughton with The Hat City Award for Preservation Excellence in recognition of his stalwart and ongoing partnership with the museum and commitment to the preservation of the history and heritage of our community.

“I am honored to be chosen as the recipient of The Hat City Award for Preservation Excellence. Twenty-first century Danbury is shaped by our past and I feel strongly that as a community we must continue to recognize and honor the important history that the Danbury Museum & Historical Society collects and preserves,” stated Mayor Boughton.

Boughton added, “To celebrate the museum’s 75th Anniversary, please join me and the City of Danbury in supporting their efforts so that they may continue their mission of preserving the past, educating the present, and planning for the future.”

“The Friends are very excited to host this year’s event and recognize The Danbury Museum’s 75th anniversary year in The Hat City. We look forward to bringing the Danbury community together once again; the Hat City Ball is an essential fundraiser for the museum and supports the educational programs, history-related events, community outreach and preservation efforts of the museum,” stated Joretta Kilcourse, President of The Friends of The Danbury Museum & Historical Society.

The evening features live music from Eight to the Bar, two performances by The USO Show Troupe (also celebrating their 75th year), an open beer & wine bar, a Surf & Turf meal (vegetarian option available), dancing, and a spectacular silent auction. The event will be held at The Amber Room Colonnade.

The museum is currently seeking sponsors and advertisers for the Hat City Ball 2017. Major Sponsorship at the “Campaign Hat Honor Table” level includes an opportunity to provide tickets to Danbury veterans. Donations to this year’s silent auction from area businesses are also welcomed.

A complete outline with Sponsor, Advertiser and Donor details are available at: www.danburymuseum.org. You’ll also find information and a link to purchase tickets online or in person at the museum during regular business hours.
