Newtown Giving Circle to Host 28th Annual Breakfast to Benefit Regional Hospice and Palliative Care

As the weather warms up, Newtown gets ready for its annual fundraising breakfast supporting Regional Hospice and Palliative Care (RHPC).

Now in its 28th year, Giving Circle Co-Chairs Marg Studley and Marie Sturdevant, along with their committee Marilyn Alexander, Ellen Gehrett, Colleen Honan, Janet Hovious, Linda Trentacosta and Laurie Wrabel, are excited to host this breakfast once again on Wednesday, June 14th at 7:45am at The Waterview in Monroe, CT.

Neighbors and local businesses are encouraged to buy a table for eight.  Tables are available for purchase through any Giving Circle member or by contacting Regional Hospice and Palliative Care directly at (203) 702-7413.  Table sponsorships are $175 per table for eight guests or individual seating is available for $25.00 per person.

This year, Sandy Hook residents Dan and Lindie Bacon will be speaking about their experience utilizing support services offered through the Healing Hearts Center for Grief and Loss.  They will also reflect on how they’ve channeled their grief into service to others through their various volunteer roles, including their role as lobby greeter volunteers at RHPC’s Center for Comfort Care & Healing, where they have each volunteered over 620 hours to date.

“We are so fortunate to have Dan and Lindie on our volunteer team.  They have taken their own loss and channeled it into helping others – something that inspires us all.” said Cynthia Emiry Roy, President and CEO of Regional Hospice and Palliative Care.  “Their empathy and kindness benefit all the visitors who walk through our Centers’ doors.”

In 2016 alone, RHPC cared for 50 Newtown residents, who received over 2,500 days of hospice and palliative care, and 95 adults and 17 children who received bereavement support through RHPC’s Healing Hearts Center for Grief & Loss.  It is this commitment to caring for local community members that compels a group of Newtown volunteers to host a fundraising breakfast for the non-profit organization each year.
