Jericho Partnership to host Graduation & Award Night

Jericho Partnership is gearing up for their “First Annual Graduation and Award Night: A Night Proclaiming Hope.”  It will take place on June 14 beginning at 7:00 pm at Ives Concert Hall, White Hall, on WestConn’s midtown campus. It’s free and open to the community.

Jericho Partnership will celebrate student achievement and distribute more than $500,000 - yes, a half million - in grants and scholarships to middle and high school students who live in Danbury.

In total, more than 100 students who are part of Pathways Danbury Youth Ministries will be recognized that night as the recipients of more than $500,000 in scholarships and grants.  Also celebrated will be the 12 students who are graduating from The Academy, Pathways’ middle school for boys.

This event is part of Jericho’s newly announced Community Reconciliation initiative, a long-term strategy intended to help break down the barriers of what divides our community and reconcile all people to each other and to God.  The strategy has seven goals, one of which is “to proclaim hope” to those in need.

“These grants and scholarships are a ladder for kids who are disadvantaged,” said Bill Beattie, the Founder and Chairman of Jericho Partnership. “To bring this event to a venue like WestConn elevates its importance, and to have all our recognition on one night in front of hundreds of people will say to the Christian community that we’re involved and that we’re helping these kids in lots of different ways, to God’s glory and for the best interest of our kids and our city.”

In addition to the 17 senior boys and girls graduating from either Danbury High, Immaculate or Abbott Tech – several of whom are the first graduates from PDYM’s Naomi Mentoring program for girls – these students will be honored as scholarship recipients:

  • 31 students who attend The Academy middle school for boys, including a dozen 8th grader who are being honored for their graduation
  • 60 students who are part of S.A.Y. Yes!, PDYM’s after-school and/or summer learning programs
  • 65 students from Jericho’s Spring Street Neighborhood Center who attend its after-school and/or Summer Learning Program
  • 10 students who have been awarded the Presidential Award

The event will also feature inspirational speeches from those who have graduated from Pathways Danbury Youth Ministries’ mentoring programs.

“Money is not hope,” said Carrie L. Amos, Jericho’s President, “but money does afford these students with the opportunity to be lifted out of their circumstances.”

You're invited to witness hope in action ... it's free; a reception will follow. RSVP at info@jerichopartnership.org.
