Whole Foods Market Presents a Check to The Ridgefield Playhouse
Whole Foods Market presented The Ridgefield Playhouse, a 501 C 3 nonprofit performing arts center, with a check during the outdoor Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo on August 12, to support outreach programs for disadvantaged children and families.
As part of Whole Foods Market’s mission to serve and support their local communities, six Whole Foods Market stores in Southwestern Connecticut donated 5% of their net sales from a “community giving day” on June 20th—a contribution that totaled $26,599.40. This donation from Whole Foods will help support The Playhouse’s “Arts in Education” and “Arts for Everyone” initiatives, which provide opportunities for disadvantaged children and adults to experience the cultural benefits of live theater for free.
The check was presented during a free community event the Playhouse presents annually that includes an Expo of local businesses and a live performance of a Shakespeare play performed by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. In addition to this event, the Playhouse presents more than 200 live performances annually, which include Jazz, rock, folk, comedy, theater, children’s shows, arts and education performances, movies and more.
