Get Downtown Danbury asks residents to donate warm clothing for those in need

Get Downtown Danbury has announced that they will hold a donation drive for Danbury residents in need of warm, winter clothing from now until Monday, December 11.

Get Downtown has partnered with Jericho Partnership in an effort to distribute donations to local citizens in need. A number of businesses and public entities in downtown Danbury have signed on as collection sites. Donation boxes are available at Danbury City Hall, CityCenter Danbury, Workspace Collective, Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Danbury Library, and Mothership on Main. There will also be a donation box available at the Second Annual Hat City Holiday Bazaar for Small Business Saturday on November 25 held at the Harambee Center for Youth from noon to 5pm.

Get Downtown Danbury is a collaboration of many agencies, organizations, and people throughout the greater Danbury area who have come together for the benefit of downtown Danbury. The mission is to promote the economic, cultural, and social vitality of downtown Danbury by engaging local residents who are vested in downtown’s future.

“We are leading this drive with the commitment of many businesses and residents in the downtown area who continue to come together in order to make a positive impact on our community,” said PJ Prunty, Executive Director of CityCenter Danbury and founding member of Get Downtown Danbury. “We hope those who are able to donate consider joining us in this mission.”

Accepted donations include new or gently used winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, blankets, and other warm clothing items. Adult and child sizes will be accepted.
