WCSU football team holds food drive for the Women's Center on October 1

At the Saturday, Oct. 1, home game against Bridgewater State, the Western Connecticut State University football team will collect nonperishable food and personal care items for donation to the Women's Center of Greater Danbury. The collection point will be at the entrance to the Westside Athletic Complex stadium on the Westside campus at 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury.

"We are so grateful to Colonials Coach Joe Loth and the football team for holding this food drive on behalf of our clients," Women's Center President & CEO Patricia Zachman said. "These items will be provided to the women and children who reside at Elizabeth House, our domestic and sexual violence emergency shelter. On behalf of them, and everyone here at the Women's Center, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who so generously participate in this event."

"We're excited to work with the center on such a great cause," Loth added.

Since 1975, the nonprofit center has worked to end violence against women, men and children. Working with individuals, families and the community, the center provides education, prevention, crisis intervention and support services for people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault and other major life crises. The Women's Center operates an office on the university's Midtown campus.
