Meyer Jabara Hotels Celebrates 40 Years in the Boutique Hotel Business

This spring, Ridgefield resident and Chairman of the Board of Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN), Richard Jabara and partner William Meyer, celebrate 40 years of Meyer Jabara Hotels (MJ Hotels).

Jabara, President and Chief Executive Officer, has led MJ Hotels to receive excellence awards from five individual franchisors. He operates the company from their headquarters in Danbury, CT, where they have been located for thirty years. In addition to Connecticut, MJ Hotels has headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The success of 40 years began in 1977 when Jabara, a second generation hotelier, partnered with Meyer, the previous President and Chief Executive Officer for Servico, Inc., to open the Holiday Inn of Danbury. In this original hotel, the owners also started Teddy’s Restaurant and Lounge, which they named after Jabara’s father. Since then, the restaurant has traveled to 10 other MJ Hotels.

Today, the company operates 30 boutique hotels in 10 eastern states under licenses from Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Cambria, Choice Hotels, and Hyatt.

A seasoned hotelier with four decades of hospitality experience, Jabara is past Chairman of Intercontinental Hotels Owners Association, the world’s largest hotel company.

MJ Hotels distinguishes itself from competitors through their proud commitment to “The Journey.” Following this philosophy, each hotel maintains a special community where associates are inspired and encouraged to bring forth their unique skills in order to build the best relationships with partners and customers. Additionally, the company works closely with businesses in the surrounding neighborhood to make sure visitors experience the specific area’s culture.

Jabara shares insight into the secret to success, "I believe our company has enjoyed sustained success because of a strong foundational belief in developing partnerships with people.  We partner with our associates to deliver great places to work. We partner with our guests to create differentiating, memorable, positive experiences. We partner with our owners and franchisors to continually learn and consequently grow the assets. We are not really in the hotel business. We are in the people business. Better the people; better the relationships; better the business."

Committed to giving each guest a unique and memorable taste of the area, MJ Hotel hospitality is certainly one worth celebrating.

Congratulations to Meyer and Jabara for a successful 40 years!
