CityCenter Danbury Kicks Off Annual Food & Beer Fest on June 11

Think Woodstock, Pink Floyd, the Eagles, the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater, Crosby, Stills & Nash, RUSH, Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band, Sinatra, and beer - "there's something going on Downtown" and it's retro-phenomenal.

The always anticipated summer season of events in downtown Danbury opens with CityCenter's first annual International Beer & Food Festival  on June 11th from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on the CityCenter Green (at Ives Street). Co-sponsored by Town Square Media, who last year brought us Bacon & Brew - and will again on Saturday, July 16th - the International Beer & Food Festival will showcase the growing popularity of internationally crafted beers, highlight delicious local ethnic cuisine, and celebrate Danbury's unique diversity. Traditionally, CityCenter's free Summer Concerts on the Green, sponsored by Union Savings Bank, opens with a pops concert by the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, this year honoring the 80th anniversary of the Danbury Music Centre with a musical jamboree. Starting at 4:00pm on Saturday, June 18th, the DMC is hosting a party on the Green that will include strolling madrigals, string quartets, ice cream, and more - all leading up to a "Happy Birthday" Symphony celebration concert at 7:30pm - a fitting tribute to lead into a summer season featuring a full-on lineup of "tribute" concerts and more, beginning Friday, July 8th and running through Saturday, August 27th.

On Friday, July 8th, Back to the Garden 1969 returns with a tribute to the artists that made Woodstock great, authentically performed in the style of those artists, including Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young,  Joe Cocker, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and Richie Havens. Opening act: Mrs. Gordon

The Doug Wahlberg Band takes the stage on Saturday, July 9th with its distinctly 60's/70's British rock and psychedelic influence. Opening act: Shot of Karma

Summer Concerts on the Green begins with opening acts at 7:00pm, and headliners take the stage at 8:00pm, unless otherwise noted. And don't forget Taste of Greater Danbury, on Saturday, September 10th and Sunday, September 11th, closing the  season with downtown Danbury's "tribute" to all things delicious. This year, an estimated crowd of 15,000 will provide the buzz. For more information and an expanded schedule of all events, visit citycenterdanbury.com
