Celebrate Read Across America at Danbury Library on March 1

Celebrate Read Across America with Danbury Library on Wednesday, March 1 from 5:00-6:00 pm. This event is appropriate for children ages 4 and up. Listen to the story: Horton Hatches the Egg By Dr. Seuss.

Families are invited to celebrate Read Across America Day by listening to the story from the beloved Dr. Seuss Collection, Horton Hatches the Egg. Mayzie, the lazy mother bird, persuades Horton to sit on her egg and hatch it while she goes on vacation. Horton, the faithful elephant sits on the egg, and Mayzie gets a surprise when she returns. (An art project will follow the reading.)
The National Education Association started Read Across America Day 20 years ago to get kids excited about reading, and it is celebrated in schools and elsewhere on March 2 in commemoration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
