Immaculate High School & Midwestern CT Council on Alcoholism Present: Parents Matter: Drugs, Alcohol, Your Teen and You

On Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30pm, Immaculate High School (IHS) will host a free presentation for parents and the community, Parents Matter: Drugs, Alcohol, Your Teen and You.  The event is co-sponsored by the Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism and will take place at Immaculate High School, 73 Southern Boulevard, Danbury, CT.

The Parents Matter presentation is part of Immaculate High School’s Awareness Program, which is designed to help students make smart choices and provide their parents with expert speakers and resources.

Terry Budlong, Director of Prevention Services for the Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism and co-chair of Danbury’s local substance abuse prevention coalition, Stand Together Make a Difference, will present the program. Budlong will discuss the development of the adolescent brain, protective factors and the role they play in substance abuse prevention, and factors that put youth at risk for substance abuse.

Young people who learn about the risks of drugs and alcohol from their parents are up to 50 percent less likely to use than those who do not. To register for the free program, call Immaculate High School at 203-744-1510.
