Community Compassion Forum at Danbury Democratic Headquarters on Saturday

The first in a series of outreach initiatives sponsored by the Danbury Democratic Town Committee Social Justice Task Force will take place on Saturday, April 29 at Danbury Democratic Headquarters.

On Saturday, April 29th, the Social Justice Task Force of the Danbury Democratic Town Committee is hosting a "Community of Compassion Forum", the first of a planned series to engage with citizens and to discuss issues that impact, and are relevant to, Danbury neighborhoods and communities. The gathering is scheduled for 10:00am to 12:00pm noon at the Danbury Democratic Headquarters, 161 Main Street, Danbury. Light refreshments will be served. Metered and garage parking is readily available nearby.

"This series gives us a unique opportunity to help frame the future of the Democrat Party in Danbury", says Gene Eriquez, DDTC Chairman. "We want to listen to your concerns and respond to a strong and collective voice". Those who wish to attend are urged to  R.S.V.P. here

About the Social Justice Task Force

In October 2016, a small group of members of the Danbury Democratic Town Committee started meeting for the purpose of putting together a platform of issues for the local Democratic Party members to speak to in 2017. An overview of Social Justice Issues was compiled, using resources like the Democratic National Committee and Black Lives Matter.  After the national election results, it became apparent that there were real community concerns about the issues the DDTC was looking at. But, rather than speculate what the DDTC members thought were the relevant issues for Danburians, the Social Justice Task Force members reached out to local activists groups, e.g., the Danbury Area Justice Network, CT Students for a Dream, and Act Together CT-Northern Fairfield County, to expand the conversation.  Since the beginning of the year, the expanded group has been meeting regularly.  The results of the meeting have produced a community survey which will be launched at the "Community of Compassion Forum" on April 29th. The Social Justice Task Force will use the results of the survey to compile a proactive, working list of issues that the Democratic Party will address in 2017, focusing in particular on the upcoming municipal elections.
