In 1959, Buddy Holly was a rising rock ’n’ roll star when a tragic plane crash struck him down along with Valens and The Big Bopper. Holly's death was memorialized in Don McLean's iconic song "American Pie" as "the day the music died.”
But Holly's music never died. The songs he wrote and performed with his band remain as fresh today as they did in the 1950’s. A rock ’n’ roll pioneer, Holly created an energetic new kind of music, changing the landscape for an entire generation of music listeners and music makers alike.
