Danbury Concert Association Welcomes Back Prima Trio on November 12

The Danbury Concert Association welcomes back the Prima Trio with an "edgy" new musical program of fairy tale-laden references to continue its 2017/2018 series of vituosic performances.  Violinist Gulia Gurevich, pianist Anastasia Dedik, and clarinetist Boris Allakhverdyan, who captured the 2007 grand prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the largest chamber music competition in the world, will take to the stage on Sunday afternoon, November 12th, at 3:00pm at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, housed in Danbury's  first-rate, state-of-the-art Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC). The Center is located on the Western Connecticut State University's Westside Campus (43 Lake Avenue Extension).  

Tickets are $25 per adult and may be reserved within one week of the performance by calling the WCSU box office at (203) 837 8732 or visiting danburyconcert.eventbrite.com Through a grant from the Danbury Cultural Commission, admission for those 18 and under may attend for free, although advance reservations through Eventbrite are required.

The Prima Trio was founded in 2004 while its members were studying at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. Winning the coveted Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Grand Prize, out of 137 entries from across the country and around the world, the Trio added the Gold Medal in the Senior Wind Division, a Midwest Winner's Tour, and a European début at Italy's Emilia Romagna Festival to credits that followed. The Trio has appeared on the “Junge Elite” (Young Elite) Series of Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany), the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Oakton Chamber Music Series in Washington D.C., made a Chicago début on the Music in the Loft series, returned to Washington, DC with two concerts on the prestigious Dumbarton Oaks series, made their Los Angeles début with three concerts on the prestigious Da Camera Society series, and performed at the Athenaeum in La Jolla, CA, the Dayton Art Institute, and CityMusic Columbus (celebrating the series' 25th anniversary). They have given over a hundred concerts across the USA.

Alamiro Giampieri (1893-1963), Capriccio Variato on Carnival of Venice, for clarinet and piano 

Darius Milhaud (1892-1974), Suite for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, Opus 157b 

Peter Schickele (b.1935), Serenade for Three
