NOAA Issues Flood Watch for Tri-State Area Thursday into Friday

According to NOAA, a Flood Watch remains in effect Thursday, April 5 through Friday afternoon, April 6 for the entire Tri-State area.

An intensifying storm system will bring widespread rainfall, heavy at times, on Thursday, April 6.

A few thunderstorms are possible, which could bring locally heavier rainfall rates as well. The rain gradually tapers off Thursday night.

Expect:

1.5 to 2 inches of rain is forecast with locally higher amounts.

* Possible impacts include urban and small stream flooding as well as some minor river flooding. If minor river flooding does occur, it could linger into a portion of Friday.

Widespread minor coastal flooding is possible at high tide Thursday afternoon, mainly for the south shore back bays of Western Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn as well as areas along the western Long Island Sound. Parts of NY Harbor could also briefly touch minor coastal flooding benchmarks.
