Fall Leaf Collection Begins October 23 in Danbury

In an attempt to help our residents with their yard clean up needs, and to dispose of their leaves free of charge, the City of Danbury runs a Fall Leaf Pick-Up program for six weeks. This year, the program begins on Monday, October 23, 2017 and will run through Friday, December 1, 2017.

ONLY LEAVES bagged in PAPER LEAF BAGS with NO TAPE should be left at curbside in front of residences for the city’s Highway Department to pick-up.

NO TAPE OF ANY KIND, NO PLASTIC BAGS, NO LARGE DEBRIS, NO GRASS, ROCKS, DIRT, GARBAGE OR ANIMAL WASTE, NO BRUSH or TREE STUMPS.

BRANCHES WILL BE PICKED UP SEPARATELY. Limbs must be cut into lengths no longer than 4 feet, no limb may be larger than 4 inches in diameter.  Branches must be bundled with twine in bundles no heavier than 35 lbs.

The Leaf Pickup Program is divided by I-84; Section A is south of I-84 (zip code 06810) and Section B is north of I-84 (zip code 06811).

Section A will be picked up the week of October 23rd through October 27th.  Residents in this zip code are asked to place their bags curbside Sunday evenings.

Section B will be collected the next week. Residents in this zip code are asked to place their bags curbside Sunday evenings.

This cycle will be repeated through December 1, 2017.

Dates for 2017 Fall Leaf Pick-up Program:

October 23 – October 27: Section A (zip code 06810)

October 30 – November 3: Section B (zip code 06811)

November 6 – November 10: Section A

November 13 – November 17: Section B

November 20 – November 24: Section A

November 27 – December 1: Section B

Pick up dates are subject to change throughout the program depending on weather and the Highway Department’s work schedule. Please remember: the Highway Department tries to get to as many streets during a week as possible, however, there are times when pick-up will be held over until the following scheduled visit to your zip code.

Please be sure to follow the rules listed above for the appropriate disposal of your leaves. Keeping our sidewalks and streets free of fall leaves is vital to keeping your fellow residents safe and for keeping our City beautiful.
