N. Wayne Gowdy

N. Wayne Gowdy, 68, of Danbury, died on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Danbury Hospital.

Wayne was born in New Milford, CT, July 10, 1947, a son of the late Norman and Emily (Nahom) Gowdy. He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School.

He was a retired medical records supervisor with the Danbury Hospital.

Active in Interfaith AIDS Ministry of Greater Danbury, Wayne was an advisor, was honored by being selected as the main speaker at the event commemorating the national AIDS quilt when displayed in Danbury and enjoyed travel, cooking and gardening.

He was a member of St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church of Danbury.

Wayne is survived by two brothers, David Gowdy and his wife, Evone of Waterbury, CT and Douglas Gowdy and his wife, Annmarie of Bristol, CT; three sisters, Cheryl Morgan and her husband, Charles of Washington, PA, Doreen Parrella and her husband, Michael of Waterbury, CT and Doreen Peterson and her husband, Robert of Winsted, CT as well as several grandnieces, grandnephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Rd. (Rt. 39N), Danbury with Archimandrite Michael Skrocki officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends at St. Ann Church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Interfaith AIDS Ministry of Greater Danbury, 54 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810 would be appreciated.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
