Lifelong Danbury resident, Theresa Guertin has died

Theresa A. Guertin, 80, of Danbury, wife of Gilbert J. Guertin, Sr., died on Tuesday, May 2nd 2016 at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Guertin was born in Danbury, September 18, 1935, daughter of the late Matthew J. and Domenica “Minnie” (Sassetti) Deitz. She attended Danbury schools.

A lifelong Danbury resident, Mrs. Guertin was a caregiver and retired nurse’s aide.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and collecting antiques.

Mrs. Guertin was member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Danbury.

In addition to her husband Gil, she is survived by a daughter, Renée L. Nevins (Bruce) of Danbury; four sons, Gilbert J. Guertin, Jr. (Joan) of Sandy Hook, CT, Brian G. Guertin (Debra A. Rebstock), Rickie A. Guertin and Arthur A. Guertin (Mei) of New Milford, CT; nine grandchildren, great grandchildren; brothers in law, sisters in law and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury with the Rev. Peter Towsley, Pastor officiating.

Interment will be private and at the direction of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

Friends are asked to kindly omit flower.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
