Services Planned for Kenneth G. Dodson, Sr., Retired Postal Worker at Danbury Post Office

Kenneth G. Dodson, Sr.

Kenneth G. Dodson, Sr., 85, of Oxford, formerly of Danbury, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (McDonald) Dodson, died on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Bethel Health Care, Bethel, CT.

Mr. Dodson was born in Ridgefield, CT, August 30, 1930, a son of Louise (Goode) and Harry L. Dodson, Sr. He attended Ridgefield schools, Ridgefield High School where he excelled in sports and recognized as the most athletic of his class and graduated from the University of Connecticut at Storrs where he majored in horticulture.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

A retired U.S. Postal worker of the Danbury Post Office, he retired in 1988 after thirty three years of service and later was employed for ten years in the mail division of the Ethan Allen Corporation of Danbury.

He was a avid bowler.

Mr. Dodson was a member of the National Letter Carriers Union and was a past vice-president and a member of St. Gregory the Great Parish of Danbury.

In addition to his wife of fifty four years, Mr. Dodson is survived by two sons, Kenneth Dodson Jr. of Danbury and Michael Dodson and his wife, Darlene of Oxford; a daughter, Louise Morey and her husband, William of New Fairfield; a brother, Harry L. Dodson and his wife, Rachel of Merrimack, NH; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury, CT.

Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel, CT.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
