Danbury resident Howard R. Cohen, 69, has died

Howard R. Cohen, 69, of Danbury, husband of Felice (Weiss) Cohen, died on Thursday evening, July 28, 2016 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Mr. Cohen was born in New York, NY July 23, 1947 a son of Samuel and Mary (Greenburg) Cohen. Raised on the lower East Side of New York, he attended Rabbi Jacob Joseph Yeshiva, Seward Park High School and graduated from the New York Institute of Technology and later received a Masters Degree from the University of Connecticut in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Cohen was a Senior Electrical Engineer with Northrop Grumman of Norwalk, CT.

A resident of Danbury since 1975 coming from New York, he was a member of the International Electrical Engineers Society and the United Jewish Center Brotherhood of Danbury.

Mr. Cohen enjoyed repairing automobiles, gardening, fishing and most especially the time spent with his grandchildren Bryan and Shelby-Anne.

In addition to his wife of forty five years, Mr. Cohen is survived by three sons, David Cohen and his wife, Nicolle of Mastic, NY, Seth Cohen and his partner, Robin Wheeler of Willimantic, CT and Joshua Cohen and his partner, Jennifer Cordery; a brother Gary Cohen and his wife, Adrienne of New York NY and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the United Jewish Center, 141 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury with Rabbi Stefan Tiwy officiating.

Burial will follow in the United Jewish Center Cemetery, 206 Gray’s Bridge Road; Brookfield, CT.

The family will be observing a Period of Mourning (Shiva) at 8 Huntington Road, Danbury commencing Sunday until 9 p.m. with Minyan at 7 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 12 noon to 9 p.m. with Minyan each evening at 7 p.m. and at the home of Gary and Adrienne Cohen, 266 East Broadway, New York NY from Monday thru Thursday from 12 noon to 9 p.m. and Friday from 12 noon until Sundown.
